The central committee formed by the Ministry of Home Affairs has so far recommended the withdrawal of 6,202 politically motivated and harassing cases. A press release from the ministry on Sunday (March 16) said that the committee, headed by Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Advisor Professor Asif Nazrul, has held eight meetings so far and reviewed the cases and determined their eligibility for withdrawal.

A total of 6,295 cases were proposed to the central committee in these eight meetings.

The release further said that during the 15-year rule of the previous government, many cases were filed with the intention of harassing the opposition or with political motives. The interim government has formed two committees headed by Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Advisor Professor Asif Nazrul.
